Frequently Asked Questions
How long should I wait after my tooth colored filling to eat/drink?
Best practice is to wait until anesthetic is worn off, but the filling will be fully hardened and ready to use right away.
How long after my crown appointment do I have to wait to eat/drink?
Best practice is to wait until anesthetic is worn off, but the cement will continue to harden for an hour after the appointment is complete.
Why do I need a crown?
When enough of the tooth structure is compromised, fillings no longer hold up under pressure and you risk cracking the tooth to a point that it is no longer repairable.
When are root canals required?
Root canals are required when the nerve of the tooth is dead or if the nerve becomes irritated due to trauma or bacteria
When should my child see the dentist for the first time?
6 months after the first tooth comes in, which is generally around age 1
What will happen at my child’s first dental visit?
Introduction to the dental setting, dental providers and how to properly care for their teeth. If the child cooperative, we can also clean their teeth
Why are X-rays needed?
X-rays allow us to see cavities and disease that cannot be seen with the naked eye
Is fluoride necessary?
While it is not necessary, it does help to remineralize tooth structure to help prevent the need for fillings. If you have questions, ask your dental provider what the risk for decay is without having fluoride applied.
What options do I have for whitening my teeth?
We offer stock trays, custom trays and in office whitening treatments.
What is the purpose of dental cleanings?
To clean the hardened tartar that a tooth brush cannot remove to prevent periodontal disease, to educate you on proper oral hygiene and to check for decay and disease before it gets too large.
How do I know if my insurance will cover the necessary dental treatment?
Our patient care coordinator will work with your insurance company to come up with a pretreatment estimate prior to any work being performed if you wish. If you would like, you can also call your insurance company and speak with them directly by calling the number on the back of your insurance card.
Do you offer payment plans?
We offer third party financing options to make payments affordable. Please ask our front desk for more information.
